APEX 7000 FIRMWARE UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS

Document Overview 

The purpose of this document is to outline specific details needed for proper firmware updates of an Apex stacker bill acceptor. This document should be used as a reference when any firmware update is performed on an Apex bill acceptor. 


Scope 

The scope of this document is to define and lay out all instructions in sequential order for the completion of its firmware update process. It is the responsibility of the technician performing this procedure to follow the steps and instructions as stated within this document. 


Required Equipment, Tools, and Supplies

Step 1: Using some type of external power source, power up your Apex 7000 bill acceptor.


Step 2: Please locate your PC flash download cable and plug in the USB end to any available ports located on your Windows PC. 

 


Step 3: Using your PC flash download cable plug in the 6-pin connector to the Flash I/O port located on the side of the unit. As seen in the image below. 


Step 4: With all connections made and the unit powered up, from your desktop locate the Acceptor Tools icon and open the program. As seen in the image below. 





Step 5: Once your Acceptor tools program is open you will have a screen showing the following: Current firmware installed, status if present, and port number you are connected to as seen in the image below.


Step 6: Once verified that the tools program is connected you will need to click on the “Firmware” button as seen in the image below. 





Step 7: Now that you have selected the “Firmware” selection you will be taken to the following screen as seen below. From here you will then select the “Browse” button. 



Step 8: Once selected please locate the firmware file you want to update to highlight and hit “Open” as seen below. 



Step 9: Now that the file has been selected please select “Flash update” as seen below. 


Step 10:  The Flash update process will take approximately 1 minute and 42 seconds to complete. Once it's done you will see “Process complete” and you can hit the “Okay” button as seen below.
